Cinevell

Questions

Everything people usually ask about Cinevell.

Getting started

Is Cinevell free? Will there be paid features?

Yes, Cinevell is free: creating an account and everything you can do today costs nothing. An optional paid membership with extra features is coming soon; we’ll say exactly what it includes and what it costs before it launches.

Is there an iPhone or Android app?

Cinevell works in any browser. On iPhone, open cinevell.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen; on Android, open it in Chrome and tap Install app. It then opens full screen like any app, works offline and can send notifications.

How is Cinevell different from Trakt, Serializd and TV Time?

Cinevell keeps shows, movies and anime in one place: episode-by-episode tracking with rewatches, upcoming episodes at the right time for where you live, how far your friends are on each show, community reviews and episode comments, and where to watch in your country. It imports your history from TV Time, Trakt and Letterboxd, among others. TV Time shut down on 15 July 2026, and Cinevell can import the data export TV Time gave its users. Trakt offers a paid VIP plan for some of its features and Serializd focuses on TV shows; Cinevell covers movies too and is free to use. Which tracker suits you best depends on what you care about, and you can import your history and try Cinevell without losing anything.

Does it work for anime?

Yes. Anime series and movies are in the catalogue, and you can import from MyAnimeList, AniList, Kitsu and Crunchyroll.

Does Cinevell work in my language?

Show and movie names, descriptions, episode titles and genres can appear in Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish or Urdu, with English used when a translation is missing. The app’s own menus and buttons are in English.

Are air times right for where I live?

Yes. You choose your time zone in Settings, and Upcoming shows each episode on the right day and, where the exact time is known, at the right time for you, in 12- or 24-hour format.

Importing and your data

Can I move from TV Time to Cinevell?

Yes. TV Time shut down on 15 July 2026; if you downloaded your data from TV Time, choose that file in Cinevell. Your watched episodes and movies come with their dates, along with rewatches, favourites and the shows you follow. You review every match before anything is added.

What exactly gets imported from each service?

You check every match before it’s saved, and big imports pause and resume. TV Time: watched episodes and movies with dates, rewatches, followed shows and favourites (not ratings or custom lists). Trakt: full history with dates and rewatches, ratings for shows and movies, watchlist, favourites, notes, custom lists and dropped shows (not season or episode ratings). Letterboxd: diary entries with dates, rewatches, ratings, watchlist and liked films (not review text, tags or custom lists). IMDb: ratings and watchlist (IMDb has no episode history or watch dates). Netflix: viewing history with dates. Simkl: shows, anime and movies with episode dates, status and ratings. MyAnimeList, AniList and Kitsu: status, score and episodes watched (without exact dates for each episode). Crunchyroll or any spreadsheet: a CSV with a title column, plus optional season, episode, date and rating.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. Settings → Download my data gives you a file with your whole library at any time: every show and movie, every viewing with its date, rewatches, ratings, episode ratings, private notes, favourites and lists. There is also a plain-text summary. Reviews, comments and messages you post stay on Cinevell and are not in the file.

Can I move my Cinevell data to Trakt or another app?

Your download is a complete JSON file in Cinevell’s own format, so you always have your history with dates. Other apps can’t read it directly yet, and there’s no CSV export at the moment.

What happens to my history if Cinevell shuts down?

Your history is never locked in: you can download a full copy of your library at any time, with every watch date, rating and list, and keep it wherever you like. Downloading a copy every now and then is a good habit for any app you rely on. Cinevell also keeps your last 30 saves in the cloud, so you can go back if something goes wrong.

What works offline, and how does syncing work?

Your library is stored on your device, so it opens fast and you can browse it offline. Offline you can mark episodes and movies watched, change watch dates and change a title’s status; these are saved on your device and sent as soon as you’re back online. Adding titles, ratings, notes and lists need a connection. If the same thing was changed differently on another device, Cinevell keeps both versions and lets you download each, rather than silently overwriting one.

Tracking

Can I track individual episodes, seasons and rewatches?

Yes. Tick off single episodes, mark a whole season at once (with or without the earlier seasons), or mark a show or movie completed. Start a rewatch and Cinevell keeps every earlier viewing in your history; you can remove a rewatch if you started it by mistake. You can change the date you watched each episode. Statuses are Watching, Plan to watch, On hold, Completed and Dropped.

Can I rate and review shows, movies and episodes?

You can rate shows, movies and individual episodes from 1 to 10, keep a private note on any title that only you see, and write one review per show or movie with an optional rating and a spoiler warning. Reviews can be edited or deleted, and others can like and reply. You can also comment on episodes. There is no separate rating for whole seasons; the season score shown is the average of its episodes’ scores.

How does Cinevell protect me from spoilers?

With spoilers off (the default), episodes you haven’t watched hide their name, description and picture, and Upcoming hides episode names. Comments on an episode stay hidden until you’ve watched it. Reviews and comments marked as spoilers are folded away until you tap to show them. You can reveal a single episode whenever you want.

Will I know when a new episode comes out?

Yes. Upcoming shows the next episodes of your shows at the right time for where you live, you can turn on notifications for new episodes, and you can add your upcoming episodes and movies to your phone’s calendar.

Does Cinevell show where to watch something?

Yes. Every show and movie lists the streaming services that have it in your country.

Friends and privacy

Can I use Cinevell with friends?

Yes. Follow friends, see what they’ve been watching and how far along they are on a show, share shows and message friends who follow you back.

Who can see my library?

Only you, unless you choose to share it. Profiles can be public or private; a private account only shares with people you approve, and blocking someone hides you from each other completely.

Who can see my reviews and comments?

Anyone who can see your profile. If your account is public, your reviews can also appear on Cinevell’s public show and movie pages. If your account is private, only people you’ve approved see them. Private notes are never shared.

About Cinevell

Who makes Cinevell?

Cinevell is built and run by an independent developer. It began as a personal project when TV Time shut down in 2026: the alternatives felt fiddly or were missing the features that mattered, so the developer built the tracker they wanted and uses every day. It has grown into a real service that is updated very often. You can reach the developer at hello@cinevell.com or through Settings → Send feedback.

Where does Cinevell get its show, movie and streaming information?

Show and movie details and images come from TMDB (The Movie Database), exact TV air times from TVmaze, and where-to-watch information from JustWatch through TMDB. If something is missing or wrong, tell us through Settings → Send feedback.

How do I report a bug, ask for a feature or contact support?

In the app, go to Settings → Send feedback and choose bug, idea or something else. You can also email hello@cinevell.com. If the app breaks, it sends an error report automatically, without your library or messages.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, in Settings → Delete my account. You’re signed out everywhere and hidden at once; if you sign in within 7 days you can keep your account. After 7 days your library, profile, reviews, comments and messages are erased.
